During April 2020 we saw the planting of new vines in some areas. These tiny shoots will take 3 years to mature enough to be harvested


VENDANGE 2020- Grape Harvest began beginning of September

Within the vineyard regions of our tours wine producers are busy with the annual harvest of grapes 

Whether by traditional hand method or machine, it's always a busy time of year. The vineyards are alive with activity whilst many households are still asleep.

It is followed by the grapes being pressed to extract the juice which will then ferment into wine.

COVID 19 Protocols may vary slightly from region to region
Most venues have now re-opened but health measures will be maintained to limit and avoid a second wave of contamination of Covid 19 
Expect group sizes to be reduced in number. 
Fewer visits per day available.
Masks obligatory in most places. 
Social distancing of at least one metre will be required.
No hand shaking or embracing
Wash or sanitise your hands with hydro-alcoholic solution regularly throughout the day.

Weather, soil, moisture, pruning and training of the vine all influence the characteristics of wine. 

So the suitability of the grape to each region determines its quality.

CLASSIFICATION

Vin de Table is the basic classification and must be a minimum of 8.5% - max 15% ABV                                                                            Vin de Pays / Vin de Pays de Cépage is best quality table wine with minimum 9%(10% in Mediterranean) ABV

AO VDQS Appellation d’Origine- Vins Délimités de Qualité Supérieure AOC Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée

AO, VDQS & AOC are all strictly regulated by area, variety, ABV,maximum yield per hectare, method of cultivation and vinification.

BOTTLE LABELS:

Chateau bottled refers to the estate

Shippers Name on a label denotes quality and reliability
